Welcome to DORO Estate!

Good things grow here.

The Estate

DORO is a nature estate in Polydendri, East Attica.

Set among forested hills less than an hour from Athens, it is a place shaped by seasons, trees, open skies and the rhythms of the land.

Here, people gather for celebrations, school visits, workshops, retreats and simple days outdoors. The landscape is at the heart of every experience.

The scent of pine after rain, the changing colours of the hills, the quiet of a winter morning, the long light of summer evenings.

We hope that everyone who visits leaves with something simple and lasting: a sense of ease, renewed energy, and a deeper appreciation for life’s everyday pleasures.

Venue Rental

Available for private hire, DORO offers a distinctive natural setting for gatherings of all kinds.

The Estate welcomes celebrations, educational school visits, day retreats, family and business gatherings, team meetings, creative workshops and community events. Indoor and outdoor spaces open onto a wide landscape of forested hills, creating a setting that feels both expansive and grounded.

Less than an hour from Athens, DORO offers the rare opportunity to gather in nature without travelling far from the city. Whether bringing together colleagues, students, friends or family, the land naturally encourages a slower pace, meaningful conversation and shared experience.

Events & Activities

Throughout the year, DORO hosts programs, workshops and gatherings inspired by nature, seasonal rhythms and traditional ways of living.

Activities are designed for both children and adults and may include environmental education, outdoor learning, creative workshops, wellbeing practices, seasonal celebrations and community gatherings.

We work with carefully selected facilitators, educators and practitioners who share a respect for the land and for meaningful human connection. Each event is shaped by the season and the character of the estate itself, creating experiences that are simple, authentic and rooted in place.

Our Story

More than fifty years ago, while many families were leaving the countryside for Athens, ours chose a different path.

My parents arrived in Polydendri with two young children and a simple desire: to build a life closer to the land. Over time, this place became deeply woven into our family life. Long tables gathered family and friends, children grew up climbing rocks and racing alongside the farm dogs, while everyday life unfolded close to nature. Along the way, olive trees were planted, vines were tended, animals were cared for, and the land was shaped by the hands of those who came before us — many of whose care remains visible in the landscape today.

Now, DORO opens its gates to others. Through gatherings, celebrations and educational programs, the estate continues to be nurtured and preserved for future generations. DORO means “gift” in Greek — a reminder that the richest and most meaningful things in life are often the simplest, and best when shared.
